PARTS
- Jigger
- Shaker (large cup and small cup)
- Strainer
- Muddler
- Bar spoon
- Bottle opener
CLEANING
- Wash before using for the first time; shaker, jigger, spoon, strainer, and bottle opener are dishwasher-safe.
- Muddler is hand wash only. Maintain the wood by periodically treating with a food-safe oil, wax, or conditioner.
USE AND CARE
- Jigger
- Use the jigger for measuring ingredients for cocktails.
- The interior of the jigger includes ¼-oz. (7-mL), ½-oz. (15-mL), ¾-oz. (22-mL), 1-oz. (30-mL), 1½-oz. (40-mL), and 2-oz. (50-mL) measure markings.
- Shaker & Strainer
- Place ingredients into the large cup.
- Place the small cup with the opening side down into the large cup at a slight angle. The large cup is too full if the ingredients come into contact with the small cup: this will prevent the shaker from sealing correctly.
- While holding the large cup with one hand, strike the base of the small cup with the heel of your hand so it seals tightly.
- Holding the large cup with one hand, and the small cup with the other, shake vigorously.
- Once done shaking, hold the bottom cup firmly. Use the heel of your free hand to firmly hit the rim of the large cup. This should break the seal. (If this doesn’t work the first time, try again from a slightly different angle.) See Illustration 1.
- Place the strainer over the top of the large cup with the coil side down.
- Hold the large cup with your forefinger resting firmly on top to anchor the strainer. Tip the cup gently, letting the liquid stream slowly into the glass.
- The small cup has 2-oz. (50-mL) and 4-oz. (125-mL) measure markings.
- The large cup has 4-oz. (125-mL) and 6-oz. (175-mL) measure markings.
- Muddler
- Choose a sturdy mixing glass, pint glass, or cup.
- Place sugar and any herbs, fruit, or citrus rind that the recipe calls for into the bottom of the cup.
- Place the wide end of the muddler into the glass. Press down lightly on the herbs and give a few gentle twists.
- Stop muddling when you start to smell the aroma from herb(s) and/or citrus peels, and when juices are released from fruits.
- Bar Spoon
- Hold the bar spoon between your thumb and first two fingers of your dominant hand. Insert it into the glass until the bowl of the spoon touches the bottom.
- Run the back of the spoon along the sides of the cup to stir the drink. The spoon will spin in your fingers as you stir.
- The bowl of the spoon holds ⅛ oz. (3 mL) of liquid.
- Bottle Opener
- Use on soda and beer bottle caps.
TIPS
- Do not add carbonated beverages to the shaker. Add them to your drink after any other ingredients have been shaken.
- The Shaker isn’t just for alcoholic beverages. Use it to shake nonalcoholic, noncarbonated beverages as well.
GUARANTEE
- One-year guarantee for noncommercial use. Refer to website or sales receipt for details.
