Greek Hummus
This simple homemade hummus recipe is quick and easy to make, super-smooth and creamy, and tastes so much better than store-bought.
Ingredients
- Pita Chips
- 2 pitas
- Greek Salad
- 1 seedless cucumber
- 2 plum tomatoes
- ¼ cup (60 mL) fresh parsley leaves
- 2 tbsp (30 mL) olive oil
- ½ cup (125 mL) crumbled feta cheese
- Hummus
- 1 can (15 oz./425 g) chickpeas (reserve ¼ cup (60 mL) liquid from the can)
- 1 can (15 oz./425 g) Great Northern beans, drained
- ½ lemon, juiced (2 tbsp/30 mL)
- 2 tbsp (30 mL) olive oil
- 1 garlic clove, peeled
- 1 tbsp (15 mL) sesame seeds
- 1 tsp (5 mL) salt
Directions
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Use the Pizza & Crust Cutter to slice each pita into 8 triangles. Arrange the pieces on the Large Bar Pan or Half Sheet Pan. Bake for 10–13 minutes, or until the pieces are lightly browned.
Meanwhile, add the hummus ingredients (including the reserved chickpea liquid), in the order listed, to the Deluxe Cooking Blender. Replace and lock the lid. Turn the wheel to select the GRIND setting; press the wheel to start. If the blades are still moving but not blending food, use the tamper, in a circular motion, to push the ingredients back into the blades.*
For the Greek salad, cut the cucumber in half widthwise and in half lengthwise. Use the Quick Slice to dice the cucumber (see cook’s tips).
Use the 5" (13-cm) Tomato Knife to dice the tomatoes. Mix the cucumber, tomatoes, and parsley grated with the Herb Mill in a medium bowl. Add the oil; mix well.
Transfer the hummus to the Medium Serving Bowl. Top with the salad and feta. Arrange the pita chips around the dip.

Cook's Tips:
The hummus will come out of the blender slightly warm. You can refrigerate it before serving.
Slice the cucumber, then turn it a quarter turn and slice again.
*Safety Tip: Only use the tamper provided with the Deluxe Cooking Blender. Do not force the tamper deeper into the pitcher. Only use the tamper when blending cold and liquid ingredients.
