CLOSED POSITION Lift the handle so that the top is vertical and locks into place (should not lay flat). Using the handle, lower the top so that the plate makes contact with the food during cooking. For thicker food, the upper plate can be left in the unlocked position. This can be done by pressing down slightly on the front of the top plate to release the hinge and allow the plate to hover. If doing so while the unit is hot, always wear an oven mitt. You can also use the adjustable height and lid fastening lever on the right of the unit to set the height. Note: Never cook with the top in the 100° position. FLAT POSITION Locate the hinge release lever on the right arm of the handle. With your left hand on the handle, use your right hand to slide the lever toward you. Push the handle back until the top rests flat on the counter. The unit will stay in this position until you lift the handle and the top to return it to the Closed position. If the unit is already in the Flat position and you want to adjust it to the Closed position, pull the handle slightly toward you while the top stops at the 100° position. TOP MELT POSITION Press down slightly on the front edge of the top to release the top center hinge, allowing the plate to hover. If doing so while the unit is hot, always wear an oven mitt.
Lower it to the desired height then slide the adjustable height and lid fastening lever on the right of the unit into a notch to set the position.Note: The top plate should not make contact with the top of the food when using this feature. Control Panel Display

- 24. Never use metal utensils, as they will scratch the nonstick plates. Instead, use only wooden or heat-safe plastic or silicone utensils.
- 25. Never leave utensils, the probe, or the probe’s wire in contact with the hot plates, as they may melt the utensil or damage the plate or the unit. Do not use the included cleaning tool as a cooking utensil.
- 26. In between recipes, use a wooden or heat-safe plastic or silicone utensil to scrape excess food buildup through the grease channels and into the drip tray. Then, using caution, wipe off any residue with a paper towel before proceeding with the next recipe.
- 27. Aerosol nonstick spray is not recommended; it will create a sticky residue which is difficult to clean.
- 28. Use caution when turning off and on as the On/ Off switch is near an area that can become hot. Never touch a hot plate with your bare hands. Never touch the switch when in Flat position and the unit is open. Always allow the unit to cool to the touch before touching the switch.
WARNING
- • Hot contents can cause serious burns. Content temperatures can cause serious scalds in less than one second.
- • Do not touch hot surfaces without appropriate heat-resistant hand protection such as oven mitts or potholders.
- • Always use appropriate heat-resistant hand protection when opening and closing the unit as some steam may appear on the handle and the unit.
- • During use, keep hands and exposed skin away from the plates and other hot surfaces, as this may cause scalding and burns.
- • Position the unit at least 6 inches (15 cm) away from any overhangs, walls, and table or countertop edges.
- • Do not move while in use.
- • Do not leave the unit unattended while in use.
- • Keep the cord away from children.
- • A short power-supply cord is used to reduce the risk of it being grabbed by children, becoming entangled, or getting tripped over. For child safety, never drape the cord over the edge of a counter. Never use an outlet below a counter or with an extension cord.
- • Keep body parts and unauthorized utensils (e.g., silverware, non-heat-proof spatulas, etc.) out of the unit during use or while the unit is hot to reduce the risk of injury or damage to the unit.
- • Do not operate on an unstable surface.
- • Never operate on or near flammable materials such as newspapers or paper plates.
- • Operate the unit near a kitchen vent. Do not operate in an appliance garage or under a wall cabinet. When storing in an appliance garage, always unplug the unit from the electrical outlet and make sure completely cool. Not doing so could create a risk of fire, especially if the unit touches the walls of the garage or the door touches the unit as it closes.
- • Do not operate the unit adjacent to, or inside of, water (e.g., on a boat, sinks, pools,
lakes, etc.).- • Do not put foreign objects into gaps and crevices of the unit. This may cause electric shock or a thermal event, which could result in death or serious injury.
- • Do not use excessive force with the unit. It could cause damage, break, or injure the user.
- • Use caution when opening the lid to ensure no body parts come in contact with the unit.
- • Do not store in direct sunlight.
- • Do not use with foods that are too large or overhang on the unit.
- • Use caution when opening. Always have one hand on the handle when the other hand is retrieving food. The top plate may shut or become unseated if not locked properly or bumped, causing injury to the user or those around.
- • Always use food-safe practices when using the Keep Warm function. This product is not intended to keep food at a food-safe temperature.
- • Always turn it off and unplug when not in use. The On/Off switch is near an area that can become hot. Never touch a hot plate with your bare hands. Never touch the switch when in Flat position (while the unit is open). Always allow the unit to cool before touching the switch.
- • Do not disassemble the unit; there are no user-serviceable parts.
ELECTRICAL HAZARDS
- • Failure to abide by these specific instructions may cause electrical shock or a thermal event and could lead to death or serious injury:
- • Always turn the unit off using the On/Off switch and unplug when not in use.
- • Do not use anything other than a 120V–60Hz grounded power outlet.
- • Do not immerse, submerge, or sprinkle with liquids.
- • Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.
- • If the plug fits loosely into the outlet, or if the outlet feels warm, do not use that outlet.
- • Do not insert or remove the plug with wet hands. In order to avoid injuries due to electric shock, make sure your hands are dry before plugging and unplugging the unit.
- • Do not plug into a power strip or an outlet with any other appliances. The product should be used with a dedicated outlet; do not share the outlet or circuit with other appliances. A grounded socket of more than 15A rated current shall be used alone.
- • To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit into a grounded outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit, contact a qualified electrician.
- • Persons with pacemakers or users of hearing aids of cochlear implants or any other battery or electrically operated medical device connected to or implanted should consult with authorized medical personnel before use. Refer to the instructions of medical equipment providers.
- • Always ensure the cord is not touching any hot elements on the unit during and after use.
- • Only use with the provided temperature probe.

The food is not evenly cooked. There’s too much food on the plate. Remove some food from the plate. The unit is plugged in but won’t turn on. The unit is not properly plugged in. Ensure the power cord is plugged into the outlet firmly. The outlet is not powered. Unplug the unit and plug another appliance into the same plug to test if working. Move the unit to another outlet.
